An Ignore List is a list of terms and/or phrases excluded from Readability and Grade Level calculations. Your organization will have terms to add to a VT Writer Ignore List. Over time, your admin will add new terms to the list. This results in the latest terms appearing at the end of the list. Our customers have asked us how they can have the Ignore List listed alphabetically.

Here’s how to do it. It should take no more than 5 minutes of your time.

1. Log into VT Writer as Admin.
2. Click on the settings button on the sidebar
3. Click on “Ignore List”
4. Select the “Export to CSV” button
5. A “Writer_IgnoreList” is now available in your local “Downloads” folder
6. Save this .csv file with new title
7. Open the file in MSExcel
8. Insert a new row before row 1
9. Select all of Column A
10. Click on the data menu and click the filter icon
11. Click on the down arrow in Column A
12. Select “Sort A to Z”
13. Delete Row 1
14. Save the file as a .csv
15. Go back to VT Writer in your browser
16. Click on the settings button on the sidebar
17. Click on “Ignore List”
18. Click on the “Import from CSV” button
19. Click on the “Choose file” button and select your updated whitelist file
20. Click on the “Overwrite existing Ignore list.” Radio button
21. Click “Submit”
22. Your full Ignore List is now in alphabetical order.
