Configuring VT Writer SSO using Azure AD

Creating VT Writer as an app in your Azure AD

Log into your Azure AD admin center and click Enterprise applications New application

Next click Create your own application

Name it and check the Non-gallery option, then click Create

Upload VT Writer Metadata to Azure AD

After waiting up to 60secs for the app to be created you will be redirected to the properties page of your newly created app. Notice in the Getting Started section, option 2 Set up single sign on. Click Get Started > SAML

Open a new tab and log into your VT Writer application. Once logged in click System admin > Authentication Settings > toggle Single Sign-On > Download Metadata

Go back to your tab with your VT Writer Azure app, you should notice a button at the top Upload metadata file, click this and upload the metadata file you just downloaded from the VT Writer application.

After uploading the metadata a new panel opens and auto fills values, make sure they are correct before click save.

Assign User to the VT Writer app in Azure for testing

Before you can test connection you need the following values to input into the VT Writer application.

Identity Provider Entity Id = Azure AD Identifier
Identity Provider SSO URL = Login URL
Public x509 Certificate = Certificate (Base 64)

Your SSO configuration for VT Writer should look similar to the below screenshot. Click Test Connection if you get a Connection Successful message you can then click Enable. If you get an error message feel free to contact support@visiblethread.com with the error and we will help you troubleshoot.
